As in previous years, the Fernando Pessoa Foundation Libraries are joining in the celebrations for International Open Access Week, which will take place from 19 to 25 October, by organising a series of initiatives aimed at raising awareness amongst the academic community of the importance of free access to scientific knowledge and its sharing.

20 October (Tuesday) | 11.00 am

  • Webinar: ‘The cost of knowledge: Pathways to sustainable Open Access’

Organised by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), this webinar will address the challenges and prospects for the sustainability of open access.

21 October (Wednesday) | 3.30 pm | Álvaro de Campos Specialised Library

We invite the academic community to take part in two seminars:

  • ‘Publishing made simple: rights, licences and the rules of open science’, by Dr Gustavo Oliveira, from the Fernando Pessoa Foundation Libraries.
  • ‘Self-archiving to create a memory: sharing a personal experience’, by Prof. Luís Borges Gouveia, lecturer at Fernando Pessoa University.

19–25 October | Open Access on social media

Throughout the week, we will be sharing a selection of Open Access resources across various fields of knowledge on our social media channels – Facebook and Instagram (@bibliotecasffp).

Do you know of any Open Access resources that are worth sharing? Please share their names and links with us, helping to enrich our Open Access Resources page.

We look forward to your participation in these initiatives and hope to see you, in particular, on 21 October at the Álvaro de Campos Specialised Library!
